heading to SC with a loaded trailer, my trailer hitch is breaking. Anybody have a class 3 hitch?? Need for my 88 R30
I’m parked until I fix this.

you should have a class 4 or 5 for the big trailer . class 3 is the smallest size of the 2" hitch .

but i understand you need to roll .

i can say tho if you were any were near me i would help you out no questions.

Can you post a picture?
no where near you, but lots of talented people here may be able to provide you with suggestions for a temporary "trail" fix...

Is using the bumper ball mount for a temporary fix not an option?

I have no idea of what weight you are hauling or how far you have to go...even just to get to like u-haul or someplace that could provide a permanent fix..???

I'd at least jack up on that hitch till the ball is vertical again or a bit more, then wrap a chain around it and bolt it to the two holes in the step & tow bumper, then you can limp it somewhere more safely...it looks ready to break off ! :yikes:

I honestly didn’t think of that! But I found a truck repair shop/road service. Met him at his shop, he jacked it back, welded a brace in, and built a bracket and attached to the bumper. New hitch when I get home!

only thing that would work better is this massive unit

custom built unit bolts to massive bumper / crossmember in middle / the goose neck hitch i got from kirt at diy4x

that CURT is a class 3 hitch for basic stuff .

600 lb tongue weight
6,000 trailer gross
or with weight dist hitch
1,000 tongue weight
10,000 trailer gross

the B&W hitch is class 5 rated unit
1,600 tongue weight both reg and weight dist hitch
16,000 trailer gross both also .

this is 2 totally different hitches for weight class of pulling . do not mix them up just cause its 2" hitch size if you were to get in trouble or bagged by the fuzz in a dot stop you could be parked and ticketed . there cracking down on lots of people these days .

and yes people get away with smaller hitches all the time but this exact problem posted above is why there is weight and size limits for each unit . another thing is check your hitch now and then if you live in the rust belt . i have sent many to the recycle yard that looked good out at the end but the under side you dont see was gone .

I ordered a draw-tite class 5 hitch.

The "representative" picture got me. That does not look like a class 5 hitch.
I never saw the weight of the trailer.
I doubt I will tow over 6k my self.
