Anybody try this on a pre '88

Has anybody tried this on a '73-'87. My crappy Valley mount just shredded my tailgate two seekends ago and I was talked in to keeping a spare. Would this work, can it be forced into working?

always keep a spare!!!!

anyhow... is that a receiver mount style? if so then I dont see why it wouldnt work... or you could make your own...


I am going to do what I saw someone do... they cut a hole in the bed on an angle and are going to weld in sheetmetal to hold the tire kinda in the bed.....

Any sheetmetal-mounted mount is gonna have the same issue, especially with big tires. You'll want to mount the spare to the hitch, the bumper, or the cage... and search, it's been done to death.

those valley body mounted ones suck ass, that was one of the first things I took off my truck.

The one your looking at appears bumper mounted- but still relies on the tail gate

Its an option if you can make it fit your truck- but the bumper styles are a little different.
