Came across it while watching some pisserschannel vids on youtube.

I don't have a ton space at the house to setup dedicated blasting equipment and the local machine shop is cheap enough that I've been taking everything there but it'd be nice to be able to at least do small stuff like brackets, battery trays, etc. at home. For the price ($48 to my door) it'd pay for itself instantly considering I have another box of stuff waiting to get blasted.

Just wondering if anyone's got anything to add before I order one.

yup, I've used many encarnations of the spot gravity blaster over the years.. they suck pretty bad... VERY VERY slow..... got some spot rust on a door, it'll do small stuff like that.. but anything bigger than small will take forever... it'd probably take over an hr to do a glovebox door...

any pressurized system will be vastly better than a gravity...

Damn, Paul, you found this quick!

Yeah I got a pretty good idea of how small of an area it does at a time watching those youtube videos. It didn't look that bad considering what I'm looking to do.:dunno:

I wouldn't be trying to do anything huge but, for example, right now I've got a couple of speaker brackets & battery trays from the burb and a few other odds and ends stuff that I've been saving up to take down to the machine shop. Granted it'd only be a few bucks each if I do that a couple of times it'd cover the cost of one of these blasters plus the stuff would already be done if I could take care of it at home.

Really that bad? I know a pressure system would be better but that ain't happening here anytime soon.:(

Well, sh!t...I don't get to HF nearly as much as I'd like given that the nearest store is 80 miles away and with the Jeep getting a sweet 12-14 mpg it makes everything I buy there cost a little more than the advertised price.:doah:

I dunno...$20...$48...like I said it'd still save me money in the long run and be a lot more convenient to store than the floor standing unit - what can I say I'm working out of a small 2-car garage in a duplex here that services 4 vehicles (my 3 plus the gf's F250) and a girlfriend with mild hoarding tendencies.

I was trying to type up a witty comment sarcastically damning you for raining on my parade with your vast knowledge and experience but every time I re-read it the sarcasm just didn't seem to come through...

Nothing beats a pressure pot style blaster.

Only one thing... a capable compressor to run it!!!

I agree though, after having used the small hand held units, the pressurized can type are far superior.

Absolutely! If you don't have a big...or I should say powerful enough compressor to run it it's pointless. But with the right compressor and a pressure pot they kick ass. I called Kelco compressors which is a company that my last machine shop used for the last 25+ years and our rep told me a pressure pot should be ran by a minimum 10hp compressor! Thats a petty powerful compressor for home use. Mine is a 7.5 80gal single stage. He said it would run a lot.

Which is another reason I figured the little gun would be better for home. I was already concerned that my 3hp 30 gal compressor would have a tough time keeping up with the little one...

you can still run the pot type in short bursts, overall I think it would still outperform a handheld unit...just make sure your air is dry!

what he said..

you're still effectively running a blow gun on whatever compressor it is, whether gravity or pressurized... in effect the pressirized should perform a bit better due to the tank helping the air compressor with volume..
