Greetings All,

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on the 1968-1988 Chevy and GMC 1/2-1 ton Perch Drop Kits from Sky manufacturing. I have searched to get people's opinion on them and its time I just buy it and install it. It gives you a 4.5 lift right off the bat, so I should be able to run some stock springs and keep the flex. Im tired of running high arch springs, its going on a 84 shortbed. 383, th-400, Np205, 60/14ff. Just trying somthing new.

SO just wondering if anybody has used them?? Install advice?? etc.

Im going with their rear flip kit also to level it off.

Thank you,

How much lift are you trying to achieve? Specs of rig and end goal would help,, though by the shackle flip suggestion I am going to assume appox. 4". I would not run that kit, in my opinion. Unless I am missing some gusseting, braces, or whatnot(which is completely possible with the sigle plane thumbnail on Sky's website) it would provide less strength than stock bracketry. If you are looking at maintaining or gaining flex, a DIY4X B52 kit would put you way ahead. Not to mention the fact of less fab, although I havent seen one in person. DIY4X has great products and superb customer service, something I grow more fond of every day. There are many, many educated, nice people on this site that can give you more in depth ideas and suggestions.

I would not order from them. I ordered a pair of disc brake swap hangers from them. they say to order stuff from Dunks Performance on thier website and i did and never recieved them. I called sent emails and recieved no response. So i ordered from Ruff Stuff and had no isues. F Sky and Dunks no one ever answered the phone or anything.

Thanks Kenny78,

I will have a look at DIY 4x.

Overall lift is going to be lower than the 8 springs it has right now. Im trying to get my COG down...really started to get into climbing and rocks etc, instead of just PA mud. I have 38 SX's on beadlocks, and I would like to keep those.

I'm just trying to get the flexy-est spring (lower arching) under my truck. I thought if used Sky's kit I would be doing great getting the addtional 4.5 inches with a stock spring. I wouldnt need any more lift than that, with some trimming.

But like I said I have never heard of anybody running this kit?? Although all Sky's other part are highly recommended, as well as DIY 4X.

An additional note, B52's use stock rear springs, forgot to mention that. Because they are longer they will inherently flex better. Getting into a kit costs less than skys. Buy or source some 52's and you would have most of of what you need. I will say again, I am not an expert and dont run these, but try to read everything on this site(which is near impossible). From reading street stability can be questionable if unaddressed. Also, crossover steering is usually addressed. Again, from reading crossover usually goes along with a truck built for flex anyways. But with skys kit I would hate to see you use stock steering anyways. Liberal fender cutting also. You can never research too much.

Wow you are the first person I have ever heard say anything negative about Sky. I always just call them directly and place my order. I've ordered two different crossover setups from them and had great results both times!

ive had problems with sky before too and the only way i will buy one of theyre products is if i buy it used from some one

I know Sky personally... he has always been a great guy to deal with in the past. But it is possible for any business to screw up an order. It is how well they handle and fix the problems that makes or breaks a business.

Hello All,

Thank you for the inputs, but Im guessing no one has ran this set up, I will have to post on Pirate...and ask those guys...scary:-)

Kenny78, it already has x-over steering. I pirchased through Sky, thats the reason Im interested in running their kit. I have had good luck with them. But Im still reading on the 52's (more people use them).

Flamin Fast, my uncle already has dibs on my springs sorry...

Yeah the 52's will give you about 4-5" with just the springs themselves, You could always add a zero rate or the equivalent. I just finished mine using DIY4X bumper center which has the spring hanger built in to it. They flex like mad! Probably cheaper than the kit from Sky. Ive personally had good service with Sky, ordered crossover at the same time I did the 52's.

So adding the 52's will give me a lift of 4-5 inches with stock springs?? If thats the case its much cheaper than Sky's kit. And it does the same thing/amount of lift, do I have this right??? Sky says theirs is a 4.5 lift, are the 52's the same??

thanks

Could not even get anyone to talk to me at all. Or email me back.

You will get anywhere from 4-5" of lift from the spring swap. You can either to it yourself or order the kit from Kert at DIY4X. It is defineltly worth it to do it if you do any trail riding/crawling. I would say you will be on the 5" mark with new springs, I used worn out springs and a zero rate and netted about 5". Hope this helps. Do a search on the Do it yourself version of the 52 swap. The front spring hangers have to be moved, I also moved the rear spring hanger.

If you want to do it cheap you can simply relocated your stock mounts and run 52's without spending a dime on new parts (other than grade 8 bolts). There have been several guys that have done it.
