Anybody with a 90 350 and vortecs

Ok, I know what I want to do know. Just need advise or tid bit info.
Im rebuilding the 90 model 350 in the truck know with the Scoggin Dickey Max-torque engine rebuild kit.
COnverting to vortec heads with the TBI/vortec intake.
and Im gonna need to get some headers with AIR, EGR, CBR, HE BEE GEE ARE, etc all that crap for the 90's stuff.
Anybody else done this same setup (90 model) and all?

I know alot of this is covered in lots of seperate posts. But has anyone dont all this as close to exactly as what Im doing?

I've done it with an '89, but I am in Alabama and we don't need all of that AIR crap. Therefore, it no longer has any of it. What an awesome power combination! That truck will fry a set of 35's in 2wd. In 4wd it will sling some pretty incredible rooster tails!

What exactly is the AIR crap? And I thought that the EGR crap would be a tube running from the exhaust many to the intake? But when I look under the hood, the only thing I see is a flex hose coming out of the top of the exhaust going to the breather assembly. There is nothing else connected to the exhaust except for the 02 sensor.

Also, what, if any, problems did you run into with the exhaust/headers as well as braket mounting and so forth?

The AIR crap is the air injection system into the exhaust manifolds(come to think of it, I am pretty sure that GM quit putting this on the trucks in '88). The EGR on your truck uses a passage in the heads and a valve on top of the intake manifold to recirculate exhaust gas. The Vortec heads dont have this exhaust passage in them, therefore you can eliminate the system if you aren't governed by inspection laws, or you can buy an EGR kit to retain it. I am pretty sure that Scoggin-Dickey sell the kit.

Well, the only thing we have up here in TN is a sniff check and they check to see if you have a CAT and the little flap in the gas tank filler tube.
So, does thisessentially mean I can rib myself of all that crapola and not deal with the EGR?

According to Uncle Sam: Yes, but according to a sniffer test that we had done: No. We tested the old motor(in good tune) and tested the new motor, and the new setup was producing less emissions that the factory set-up.

EGR seems to be more of a drivability issue then emissions issue IMO. I know Pace has everything you need for doing the EGR setup on the vortecs and manifold.

OK... I just did this in Jedi Mind Trick...

OK... if you need emissions you will need the do the following; there is an accomodation for and EGR valve, but in order for it to get the oxygen to measure you have to run a pipe from the manifolds / header up into the intake so the EGR valve can read it... I just blocked this off because in WY I don't have to mess with emmission...

matter of fact, I've got the emissions pipe with all the adapters needed sitting here new, and I'll sell them to you for half of what you can get them new + actual shipping cost.

Ftn In summit i magazine eldelbrok just came out with an intake manifold that allows to keep you egr. On my 90 sub tbi when the egr went bad the truck ran like crap and got horrid mpg's. you would want to keep that system. But every thing else should swap over. You shouldn't have air injection, That was stopped in 87 or 88, i think my burb doesn't have it, even my 87 had it but after talking to emmision tech he told me that air was optional in the state of co and not manditory. Might be so in your case. headers would be sweet just remember to keep you O2. It should be easy now picking out your headers and remember you egr doesen't touch your headers.
