Anyone build one of these tubing benders?

Well, I decided to give it a go.

Ordered all my parts from Northern and pick up my steel this afternoon. So here goes nothing.

Definitely post up pictures and let us know how it works. I am tired of pulling on mine. I mean the bender handle.

Well, the damn hoses are on back order from Northern. This order also has my pump and ram on it so I can even do the layout yet.

I've got every thing else so once the rest gets here and there is bad weather on the weekend I'll get started.

We did it a while ago, went with a 5hp pump, will bend 90 degrees in about 25 seconds. Watch out, it will shear the welds on the dies if you are bound up or pushing it past its capacity.

I did something similar with my setup. Won't do more than a 45 without re-pinning, but I can do a 180 degree bend in a minute and a half. Got about $1000 into it including the bender, die, stand, etc. Got a screaming deal on a hydraulic pump with a Baldor (sp?) motor on e-bay.

Yeah, at this point I think I'm at a $1000. I put up a price list once I get everything in that I need. I have the bender already and if I wasn't so deep in boat repairs, its summer time, and Suburban upgrades I'd have it set up and start studing the geometry.

I probably wont do a write up better then what is in that frist link but I will take photos and post my thoughts on my build. I've already got what I think might be a better idea for die storage, but we'll see how that goes.

My two big reasons for build this is to do exhaust systems and bumpers for myself. I figure with the savings in labor it will pay for the new toy.

I used an air over hydro. ram (E-bay $78+shipping) for a cherry picker, and converted mine to a vertical bender. Total cost:
$299 for Pro Tools 105HD
$78 for the ram
$229 for the 2" 110* die set
$38 worth of 2nd use (used) steel

90* bend on 2" 120 wall in ~1min.

I'm happy for the price.
