Anyone build one that they are glad they did or worked flawlessly?

I want to build one for the buggy as I need one to fit the room I have. Sending unit isn't important as this thing will not have an electric gauge.(short trips, off road only)

would plate steel work? and what thickness should I use? I think I can build one to fit the room I have for far less then the $200 summit wants.

I built mine but didn't put enough into pickup points. Layed it far enough on its side and basically ran out of gas.

Steel will work but will rust. Aluminum is probably a better choice unless its in a location where you think it might take a hit.

I used .125" aluminum.

by the time I pay someone to tig the aluminum I can buy one,LOL...Plus I never own anything long enough for it to rust..or need an oil change for that matter...

My buddy's dad is gonna bring up his dual scout tanks this weekend. I think I can squeeze them in on each side of my tool box.

ifn they don't fit, build it out of steel and keep a good fuel filter on duty and forget about it!
