I've seen trucks in magazines with this setup and was curious just how much cost and work were involved. I think I'd rather do this than convert the front to 8 lug, simply because of the wheel options. I've already got 3/4 ton axles under my Blazer, but I'm looking at an 85 shortbed also, and it's got some nice aluminum wheels on it that I'd like to keep. I'm thinking of trading for it, unless anyone wants an 87 3/4 ton K5, then I guess I could just sell it. Need a truck more than a Blazer for now.

Look up Donovan on this site and Pirate4x4 he has done this and offers it as a service I think.

If you trade the Blazer you'll kick yourself later!

Do a search and find the write up Donovan did on the conversion... maybe you could do it yourself or have him....

How can I miss you if you won't go away?

Nah!! He wont kick himself for trading or selling a Blazer! As long as he has anything GM truck, he will be happy.

Matter of fact, with the truck, you can do a little more with it. Carry loads in the bed, trash, etc. You get the idea.

With a short bed, its not that much longer than a Blazer, so, he would still be ok and in the same ball park as the Blazer.

Yes I have done it. Here are the pictures. http://www.rustbucket.rockcrawler.com/photo.html If you want I can convert them to 6 lug for you. The cost would be $400. The price was more but nobody wanted one so I came to the conclusion that I was asking to much. The only thing that I would need is the axle shafts and hubs. You would use the stock 14 bolt brakes and all. Let me know if that is what you would like to do.

I'll keep you posted. The truck deal might not even happen, just thinkin ahead. $400 doesn't seem bad when you consider how much easier it will be to get wheels and tires. Besides, they're cheaper too. I know I'd miss the K5, but family four wheelin is rare now, maybe I could pick up another one later, I'm in the used car and truck business and I see em every now and then. I just hate bein without a truck. A wet dog makes a hell of a mess in a Blazer interior.
