Anyone do an SAS on an S10? ** UPDATE POST 17**

A Bronco front end is narrow? I guess I didn't realize that. I also didn't mention that it's from a full size Bronco. But hey if it is narrow, some 2" wide adapters takes care of the narrow problem and the 5 lug in one shot!

if its off a full size (78-79) it will be wider than the earlier ones (pre-77). it will be a 5x5.5 lug pattern.

O my head immediately went to a first gen bronco. Those things are like 59in WMS to WMS.

And yes, use the chevy knuckles and outers.

Hmm.
I'm not married to the idea of a 14 bolt rear, and I don't have a rear for the truck yet. Would it make sense to find a 5 lug 9inch instead and leave the front end alone? This front end has a bunch of good stuff on it already that would have to come off to switch to 6 or 8 lug.

I don't think a stock 9" would hold up, but there is a ton of aftermarket support for them and you could easily build one that would work for you.

A lot of Ultra4 rigs use 9" axles, although they are heavily modified. The 9" has a lot of good things going for it, pinion support bearing, screw adjust backlash, but I think the fact that the pinion sits so low in the housing that causes issues.

Tis true. But the only thing left 9in is the center chunk. And even then lots of guys are using tubeworks center sections.

A lot of peoples opinions on them seems to be "theyre great for the street, but dont really shine offroad"

I considered using them on numerous occasions but shied away last time because OX lockers arent available for them.
