Just like the title says. A friend of mine wants to do a straight axle 4wd conversion to a 2wd S10. I told him I would look for info or if someone has done one. Thanks.

i dont know if it would be worth it, why not just buy a 4x4?
The straight axle would be much stronger than the factory IFS, plus its probably cheaper to get a 2wd and put a solid axle under it than to get a 4x4 and convert to solid axle. rdn check out the s-10 section, I think there was some threads in there on SAS's

yeah its been done a bunch of times. i got a 93 running k5 blazer 10 bolts and beat the heck out of it, got a welded rear with some 33s and it just survived its 8th all day long offroad adventure

but to be technical mine was a 4x4 to start with but is basically the same idea. i threw out all the IFS crap

its pretty easy if you know how to weld and have alot of junk laying around.

heres a few build threads i read when i was doing mine to get pictures off of.

I was able to find a few great threads on a SAS conversion. Looks like it will be a piece of cake to do it. I told my bud to become a member here to check it out for his self. Thanks guys.

mine was a 2whl low rider when I bought it, it had 3 inch lowering kit on it and was very low to the ground.
now with 39.5 and narrowed one tons , TONS of fun

mine was pretty easy cause i just made it ugly strong and functional. part that took the longest was setting up the rear hangers for the front leaf springs, rest of the time was just spent tracking down parts and putting them on
