My frame is flat where the box is mounted and my 2wd box needs to be inset like the 69 and up frame has. I'm thinking of fabbing up some spacers and making a steering box cage and inforce the box from both sides.

what have you guys used or done??

Thanks again to YukonJack for the template for the hydro clutch and hydro boost set up mounts. I should have my firewall all prepped and cleaned so I can spray it and get the motor in there.

on top of that the previous owner torches 3 of the holes out to fit what looks to ba a car steering box into place. i think what i have drawn up is gonna help alot and be pretty slick for a steering "cage"

I ended up just welding on spacers from Kert. I may still add the surround brackets though.

Just looked thru his webshots and he just swapped sector shafts from his 4x4 one to a 73+ 2wd one.

frame on the 67 and 68 are different. arturos 69 and 72 both have the divot like the newer frames. my 68 is total flat.

I still don't see why you can't just swap sector shafts. Or is your box totally messed up?

it was a car box the previous owner had torched the holes to make it fit.

I'm guessing it was off the same jeep truck that gave up the rear driveline. the draglink was part of the pitman arm. plus it was manual steering.

so it now has a 2wd box that is ported for hydro assist that was on the willys.

I don't care what'll cost it's gonna be worth it in the end.

but yes it has all kinds of headaches so far. atleast I'm on the reassembly side now. well the 400 still needs to be gone through (another surprise, :( )

For mounting a box with a hump on a frame that is flat, I used washers, just get some good SS washers and imitate the humps in the frame.:D

are you serious? stack up 1/2" worth of washers on each elongated hole?
the previous owner had large nuts behind them. I had kert machine me some 1/2" spacers that I sandwiched on there with the box in the right place and welded up. gonna brace the inside as well.

Yes but what I did was a Pyramid of washers starting with the biggest I can fit on the bottom and narrowing down ti fit next to the hump on the box.
I had solid 1/16th washers, took four on each hole.
:D
I also put a flat 3/8" plate 18" long plate on the other side to brace the frame at this location.

it's fixed, moving on to the rear lift. doing 73 and up bracktes and a 3/4 ton rear.

I still need a column though since the shafts are different.

Just working on the Burb when I have cash, build a hot rod out of my dads 29 and enjoying life outside of Eugene, lol
