I've been working on pulling two large dents out of my bedsides and I had the chance to look at a 74 today but realized it has the identical dents. The body line that follows the contour of the wheel opening in that front corner also has the same smushed look. Are these a common factory QC mistake or are they supposed to be there?

Mine is fine, although it is 15 yrs newer than yours. What condition are your body mounts in? Have you checked for the notorious frame crack at the rear shock mount?

My sh.t ain’t straight enough to check lol
And I can’t tell in the pictures, might need a desktop screen.

Reminds me of a Dirt Every Day Extras episode I watched recently and they were talking about similar issues on older Jeeps. Basically a body flex issue due to the open top. Could be you need a more extensive cage, especially running with no doors.

Sorry I should've specified, my truck is a 1991 converted to a full top and I've driven it less than a mile after the conversion. If I remember correctly they were there before the conversion too

If you have Motortrend, it's Dirty Every Day Extras season 23, episode 479 at about 3:25 is when they talk about it.

Ah, well I may be off base then. I would still take it into account for the future of the truck. I think the concept still applies over the long run.
