Secret Squirrel
Looking at buying my wife a 77 VW Scirocco. Its in NC and will cost more to ship than the car is worth, but since I've spent the last two years looking for one in decent shape for a decent price, it's worth the cost of shipping.
My wife had an 80 or 81 when we got married and we had it off and on (boomerang car) for a couple years before we finally decided to keep it. Well a few months after the new clutch went in, we were heading to Idaho to see my dad. Halfway there the engine blew. Every seal and gasket was shot. I could see an oil trail for a half mile and when we added 4qts, it all ran out in less than 300'. I didnt have money to haul it back to the house, let alone money for a new engine. So I gave it to the salvage yard that towed it off the highway.
Fast forward almost ten years and I found a running Scirocco, very little rust, and under 100k miles for less than $1k. The guy said it is having issues with the fuel, but might be something minor. It will run, but not well enough to make the drive from NC to ND. SO I'm having it shipped.
I was just wondering if anyone else had one of these little gems. The newer ones had much higher horsepower, but the old ones were still quick and very nimble. You can just about turn around in a parking spot they are so small and agile. Although they seat four adults comfortably (kinda), you get more than two and you'll be pushing it up hills.
Of course if I get this car, I'll be up to five vehicles so now I'll be getting a storage unit for the ones I dont drive.
