Has anyone ever used any engine parts from C.A.T. products? The reason I'm asking is that I found some brand new aluminum roller rockers from this same manufacturer on Ebay and the price is only $150 for the set, half the price of the crane golds for self-aligning rockers. Just wondering if it's a good deal, or if it's just junk. Thanks.

Matt

I have. I bought an aluminum water pump for my reverse rotation 350. It was half the price of Summit price on an Edelbrock, which was the only other manufacturer that builds this particular water pump. They use some heavy duty bearings and shaft. It bolted up perfectly and has been on the motor for 6 months with no trouble.

I also bought a replacement flex plate. I haven't bolted it up yet, but it looks like very good quality (welds and cuts).

Here's a pic of a CAT flex plate. This one is for a big block, but you get the point.
Oh, if you call them directly, you can usually talk them down a little on their first quoted price.

There always seems to be some CAT stuff on ebay...

This is my first time hearing about them. I emailed the seller to see if he knows the manufacturer's website. I'll let you know when I find out.

I put in CAT on ebay motors and came up w/ over 800 items...browsed the first few pages and it was all snowmobile and exhaust stuff...

I've used two of their cranks for 383 applications as well as the flex plates to go with those. I also used one of their flex plates to replace a cracked stock flex plate on my friend's 4x2 sub with a stock 5.7L. I've had nothing but good experiences with these products.

The only problem with them is that it is all made in China and as a Machinist I am pissed at China for taking a lot of work away for my.

I'm with you on this one. I really try to buy American made products, even if they're more expensive, than overseas non-amerikan stuff. Sometimes its unavoidable to buy foreign stuff, but I try not too.
