I need to help my little bro replace a door lock set on a 1986 pontiac grand am 2door. The stupid [censored] bought a car with no door key!!! So anyone know of any hidden screws or tricks when replacing a door lock set? I know this is the wrong forum but I also know many of you have daily drivers too.

Getting the lock cylinder out isn't too tough. Remove the door panel on the inside and the plastic if it is still there. There are a few different designs, but they are usually held in w/ a clip kinda deal. Once you get it out you can take them to a GM Dealer and they can just rekey it to fit one of their keys on hand. Then you don't have to buy all new lock cylinders. If you have problems when you get it apart give some more details and I'll see what I can do... usually a clip or screw type backing to hold it in the door(depends on whether it is in the door handle or just in the door, etc.) Then there will probably be a rod that comes off an arm on the lock cylinder that will be held on w/ a clip. It will all make better sense when you get it ripped open.

I used to date a girl that had one - the cylinder is only held in with the standard clip gizmo - Atleast on an 88 it is, and the lock rod is held on with a plastic clip that you will most likely break, and only cost 38 cents from the Pontiac dealer in 1995.

I'm so poor I can't even pay attention

We had an 85 and I had to replace the power window bs. It really isn't that difficult but if you want to see what lies ahead stop into a crappy little piss poor autozone and thumb through the haynes book-look at what you need to and put it back on the shelf.

Stuck is a state of mind!
