Anyone ever have to weld in D60 kingpins?

Tore down my D60 over the weekend, all the while dreading the possibility of having to replace the kingpins. Well, one was loose and the other pulled straight out... I was not happy. Looks like they were loose for a long time and just wallowed out the threads and the mounting surface.

The 60 is going in a trailered rock buggy, so the easiest (cheapest) fix is to weld new kingpins back in and keep a eye out for a new housing down the road.

Haven't seen much info on welding the kingpins. Anyone done it?

I could be talked into replacing the C's, depends on how hard it would be to do... The peace of mind would be worth the price, I suppose.

BUT, if welding the kingpins will work, I will do that instead so I can spend the money on other stuff for the build.

Didn't know they made helicoils that big... Unfortunately, the mounting surface isn't totally flat anymore.
