anyone ever used one of these? AC Delete.

I'd rather same the money and just cap off all the AC stuff. I prolly wouldn't even mess with the compressor. I'd just leave it all there :) $350 can buy a lot of gas or parts.

ah hell, even sweeter.

even at $159 ( I think I saw the whole kit price) I'd just ditch whatever was there and run it like that, but that's just me, never too worried about looks.

Is this an ABS cover for where the AC stuff used to be?

Dam, you should be able to find the metal core cover without too much trouble I would think...

I just cut the evaporator box on the firewall and screwed a sheet of aluminum down over the new opening. The fan and ductwork are still intact and functional, just not the AC. This was done after the decision that shock hoops were more important than the AC that I never used anyway.

If I were doing an AC delete on a truck I would probably buy that piece. It looks better than about 90% of the AC deletes I have ever seen

Why don't you just go to a junkyard and get a full heater only setup? Probably cheaper than that and it will be much simpler than just removing the AC on the outside and replacing it with that. My truck used to be AC, now its heat only without all the complicated vacuum actuators, controls, relays, etc. You do have to patch the firewall though.

Because the firewall is different and time is money these days.

I've done that in the past on two different chevys and don't feel like doing it again.

I'd think either fabbing some metal or even better, fiberglass over the hole where the condenser is to be cut out. I would save the $$$. Fiberglass wouldn't take long

Well in that case it may be easiest to sell the truck and by one without AC. :D

Sorry I couldn't resist. I hear you, sometimes I buy things I could make myself just because I don't have the time.

I don't know how different the trucks are but I replaced my AC box on my 73 with a non ac box and it took quite a bit, nothing fit right or sealed up, it didn't attach correctly to the box on the inside of the rig ( the box I got was from a 77 so that may have been the problem)

It was way more than just patch the firewall and bolt on the new box.

I hear yah on the time thing that's why I sold my surplus center ram and bought a Psc ram because I would rather have the time todo other things then waste it turning ends.

and the second truck i did was put a 78 non AC box in a 73 AC cab. I did make the pannels, and make it fit right, but wasnt perfect still

I didn't realize there was such a big difference.
and time is money....yeah, heard ya!

No point in having AC in my 73 it was full vert and the top came off in May and stayed off till October.

Now I have to worry about kids so the top on my 89 hasn't even come off yet
