Anyone have a means of checking a casting # v/s application?

Anyone have a means of checking a casting # and what it goes on, etc...? I wanna know if my jimmy's engine is the original or whats the scoop for ordering rebuild parts. I also wanna check the heads. lemmie know and ill get them for you if you have this means.

I dont think the casting # will tell. You need to look at the number on the block behind the alternator. The casting number will put you in the ballpark along with the head casting numbers. Post them and I'll look them up for you.
Somebody here has a book that decodes the numbers behind the alternator. They will tell you exactly what it was for.
