From what I know there are no pilliar mounted pods availible for our trucks... Has anyone tried out one of those universal ones or anything else? Any pics or info is greatly appricated.
Thanks,
Mike Pascino

I haven't used the gauge pod, but what I did do is luck out with the Tach that my Dad bought for me. It just so happen to fit the A pillar pefectly. The jimmy is in the body shop as we speak, so if you send me a PM, I'll take a pic of it for you and send it to you.

I tried to put mine on the dash... ended up drilling about ten holes because none of em would even hold the tack in since it the dash is 17 years old.

Hahaha damn i just realized my truck is the same age as me.

As far as I know no one made a pillar pod for our trucks, not til '88. For my tach I used the 2 screws to the left of the column which held up the little plastic skirting around the botom of the column, out of the way, no holes int he dash and the screw spacing was perfect. This summer I am gonna replace all my gauges int he dash.

are you serious? i drilled all them holes when i could have bought a pillar mounted tach for my 88?

damn... oh well im putting a dash in her in a couple years.

Yep, autometer starts at 88" and up for the Apillar pods.

You sure their not talking about pickups? I bet the 88-up blazer pillars are the same as the 81-87s....

Somebody on one of the other chevy boards was trying to get together with a company to build a 2 or 3 gauge a-pillar pod but I don't think it ever happened, I believe it was mostly 2wd guys doing this at the time.

i got my tac mounted right on top of my steering column..with i bright shinney chrome hose clamp around the base of the tac mount and around the column!

works great, tacs right where i can see it..blocks the speedo a little bit, but only the higher end of the speedo..65mph and higher..plus with my bigger tires my speedo is off any ways, so i use my tac as my speedo..with my sm465 and those handy side of the road radar signs they have around here in california, i know that if i'm in this gear at this rpm..what my speed is..done it so long its second nature and i'm usually within 2mph of where i think i am..
