Hey just looking for some pics of homemade shackle flips. Im helping my father in law build up a 1981 GMC 2500 350/400/208 with the semi float 14 bolt rear and a gay GM 10 bolt front. Were hoping to save 170.00$ by building our own flip kit so any pics would be great for some ideas. Thanks :thumb:

If you can wait a day I can get some pics of mine. I cut the bottom out, used some 1/4" plate to brace the sides.

a lot of people just use the front hanger from the rear leaf springs, then reuse the stock shackle. I'm sure there are pictures somewhere here, probably a thread already asking for them, but might be hard to find without the right search words.

This is the only pic of mine I have but I used the front hanger off of a set of rear springs. I like the ones off of 2wd trucks because they are shorter and you dont have to cut them off like the 4wd hangers.

I had 56" rear springs on this truck so I measured 56" from the center of the bolt hole on the front hanger and marked the frame. Then I positioned the center of the rear hanger 1.5" foward of that mark and drilled holes and mounted it. I usually try to find a hole that already exists in the same place on both sides of the frame to mount the first bolts. This helps with positioning the hangers at the same place on both sides, just in case your measurement is a little off and it allows you to use the other holes in the hanger for a template.

This is the fourth truck I have done this way and all of them have turned out great. The other three trucks were dds. One of them is my current dd and has been used for towing and never had problems. In my opinion this is the easiest way to do it without buying a shackle flip from someone.

stock 2wd front hanger for rear springs.

mine is 2ton truck so had to use 1 ton hangers.

thats 4" lift 56" springs and 1 ton frame cut down and rear axle moved forward to 132" wheelbase length. thats why the end of the frame looks funny.
