Hi,

I'm planning on restoring the interior of my 71 to factory specs (as much as possible) and was curious to know if anyone had any photos of the interior of the 1st gens? I found a couple in the specifications section, but they aren't that detailed. I think the PO painted the interior instrument panel black and it looks like at least part of it was originally chrome plated.

I know a guy that does amazing chrome paint and could get it painted to match the factory look pretty easily, but I want to make sure it's right.

On my 70, the flat part of the inst panel is black. The rounded edge is chrome, and the bezels around each inst are chrome. I think it is LMC that sells new panels.

You can find original brochures at

Those are sometimes helpful for small details.... for what it's worth, the gauge bezel was all black, with chrome on the outer perimeter of the bezel, and on the inner surrounds for each gauge window. The reproduction ones you'll find in LMC and other places are decent examples. The Taiwanese repros are just not very well made....

Kept as close to factory/original as possible during the resto.
