Anyone have pictures of skid plates for the dual saddle tank setup?

I have an 84 K30 with Saddle tanks... and frankly? I love them. I have no desire to get rid of them, and I love being able to lug 44 gallons of fuel (or whatever they hold together) along with me on long wheeling trips.

However, I am concerned about highcentering them on a rock, and punching them open.... I know rock rails would help, but I am more interested in flat, bellypan type protection under them. I'd like to build something that I can land the truck on, and slide off without worrying about the tanks.

Anyone ever tried this?

About raising the tanks, which I suppose I might be able to do even without a body lift.

watching this thread. My idea for this was to put on some sliders, which is a chore in itself for these, and attaching some 1/4 plate to the slider and then using some sort of bushing, like some shock bushings, and putting bolts through the frame and shock bushings to alow it to flex still.

im sure you could get something made at a local shop or even look into doing it yourself wiht the idea you have. That was always one reason i never liked wheeling a truck wiht the saddle tanks always a thought in your mind.

it sucks for bed space but i put a 55 gallon tank form a bobtail truck in the bed .....you could try to put rock sliders under it but pick up frames flex alot and u could crush your rockers if u flex it too much

I did similar to what your talking about. I lifted the tank 2" but I do have a 2" body lift. My sliders are frame mounted. I have flexed the truck lots and smashed them hard without any damage to the frame.
