Im thinking of running a single 3" Magnaflow with single 3" tailpipe. My plans are for headers, new Y pipe into 3" cat. Just wanted to get some feedback on the sound of this combo. Looking for some deep rumble with the performance. Ive run Flows on 5 or 6 different vehicles and want something different. Good deep sound, and not too quiet. I like to be able to hear a healthy V8. I cant go dual cuz Im in Cali.

I've got a single 3" magnaflow on my '89 454. Sounds pretty good to me, pretty quiet until you step on it then you can hear that healthy roar ;). I've also got an unboltable cat with a flanged piece of straight pipe that bolts in its place . . . .:haha:

I love magnaflows! but I dont know what they sound like with cats.

My old burb had single 3" fairly mellow tillyou got on it.

My 77 has dual 3" it just roars! you can feel it in your chest as much as you can hear it.

When I did my 77 they had 2 styles of magnaflows dont remember the names but mine are the physically smaller mufflers. In stainless!

I've got one on my Burb, and the Blazer too. Sound great when you get on it. :D

And I prefer singles, easier to route, etc.

Were they oval or round? Ive seen 4x9 or 5x8 14" long case Magnaflows. Or 6" round.

Ovals 4" tall by 9" wide by 14" long sounds right. The 6" round ones are more a race muffler and alot louder. I forgot about those.

I’m currently running a 6” round by 18” long with a 3” inlet and outlet on a well worn 350. It’s somewhat quiet at idle but when you get on it others took notice.

I've got the 3" magna flow cat and HAD the 3" magna flow muffler combo. Sounded really low and deep.....but it wasent quite as edgy as i was looking for. so i traded it out for a Areo turbine and will never go back. It sounds freakin mean now! It's deep low and edgy...and a touch louder, perfect combination. Love it!

I'm running a 3" in/out magnaflow now as well. Like everyone else says, it's pretty quiet at idle, but it still sounds mean when you get on it.
