Anyone heard of Dorman exhaust manifolds?

Yep, got the left on on my 5.7 right now. As I remember, I didn't even ave to fight with it to get it to bolt on, which I do every other exhaust manifold I put on.

i've leaned my lesson though, if a manifold starts to fight being bolted on, I just whip out the high speed drill, and a 1/2 inch cobalt bit, and open the holes up. Screw fighting with them!

RockAuto lists them as replacements, I don't have any experience w them though. FYI, I do order from them and they can ship USPS + selection and prices are fairly good...

Yep, Dorman makes a few different replacement items. Lug nuts and studs come to mind. Studs and nuts for exhaust, too. Few other odds and ends also.

Dorman is a GREAT company they make OE quality parts. and most of the time if they can make it better than the OE did they will! i use them for all different things like trans line, window regulators, intake manifolds, cooling fans, radiators, odds & ends parts..

Yeah, Dorman makes also the complete line of "Help!" products at most car parts stores. All those weird things like window cranks, little springs and clips, o-rings, etc., in the red packages. I've never had a problem with any of their stuff.

Dorman has been in bussiness for decades, maybe longer than I've been alive!..sold a lot of their products at the stores I worked at,like brass fittings, hardware, and electrical items like bulb sockets, and lately they bought out Motormite, who made the "HELP" brand of hard to get, formerly "dealer only" items, and now they are expanding their lines quite a bit--I see they now sell P/S resivouirs,Upper and Lower A-frames,Harmonic Balancers, axle shafts, exhaust manifolds, driveshaft support bearings, all kinds of body moulding clips and specialty items and countless other parts you often cant get anywhere but a junkyard once a dealer decides to drop it from inventory..

Dorman WAS always high quality american built parts, but I cant say whether or not that holds true today,I wouldn't be surprised if a China factory is making a lot of the stuff they sell today, just like every other "name brand" company that now uses their NAME to sell parts, but unfortunately the quality they once had no longer is a gaurantee like it was years ago....still,it is nice a company like Dorman is making "obsolete" parts and hard to find items for us old vehicle lovers, otherwise we'd be pretty much boned when it comes to finding repaor parts...

The pic in the listing looks exactly like the one I got from 1Aauto. If it is, it is a made in China part. It bolted on with no issues and came with gaskets for head side and the donut, studs, nuts, springs and washers for the y-pipe end. Even came with a big plug for the AIR tube opening.

Been on for a few months now with no issues and much better/quieter than the 3 piece manifold that it replaced.

Most of their stuff is made in china now, but the quality is decent. You just can't buy good replacement parts anymore.

Seeing GM and every other manufacturer seems to put scrap iron parts on right from the factory sometimes,I guess China made parts aren't any worse than OEM much of the time....I swear many new car parts are made from pure rust flakes off of rotted old cars and other scrap, things less than 10 years old like backing plates, fuel ,brake and tranny lines and sending units should not rot away in that short a time..many of the rotted parts look like the rust came from within, not from the outside due to salt, etc too.."pre-rusted" you might say...

China CAN make "good" quality stuff too,if they WANT too--unfortunately most U.S companies setting up shop over there are bent on gettig things made as cheaply as possible to sell for as much as possible, and profits, not qualty,is "job #1"...

A friend was thinking of getting some 454 manifolds by Dorman for his BBC swap. I think A1Tony here has them for a decent price.
I did get some Dorman lift struts and other little parts locally and all were Chinese. They seem to be working ok so far (12mths now).

Not to steer this thread away. But there's a $12 tool called an exhaust manifold spreader. Works like a dream. Bolts line up perfectly everytime, even when the bolt holes are WAAY off.
