My ladies forester is shot. a lot of miles. don't think its worth putting more money or time into. Guy I work with has a 2004 vw gulf. 6cyl auto. 145k miles. very good shape. wants 2500. if im lucky we will trade my old m1009 for this. hes the second owner and has a stack of papers. everything that was done to it over the years. I would think its get better mpg being its not a all wheel drive. so are they descent cars? we have been sharing my m1008. been a real pain. thanks guys:waytogo:

Volkswagen's

I have a 2012 VW CC with the 2.0L turbo and auto trans. I love it! No issues with it and getting 29mpg in a full size sedan. Granted I only have 40k on it but do drive it hard.

Also have a buddy with a 2003 VW Jetta VR6 manual with over 200k on it. Only issue he has had is replacing a clutch at 175k and an engine due to "off roading" with it and shredding his oil pan at 200k. Other than that very good cars. The VR6 cylinder motors are great! Powerful and efficient. His wife also has a 2001 Passat VR6 and no problems with that one with 175k on it, auto trans as well.

Just recommend having it looked at by a dealer to make sure. Seems like its a love/hate relationship with VW's. Either you have amazing luck and no problems or you have all the problems in the world with it and hate it.

Being front wheel drive they do quite well, seemingly better than other front wheel drives, like my wife's 2wd Equinox. My CC will run circles around it in the snow, literally! lol

Hope that helps.

Pain in A#% to work on less you like German cars. I will stick with American and Asian cars.

My boss got rid of his Golf TDI, but mostly because maintenance was really expensive, and the dealer here sucked donkey balls.

parts are expensive? from what im being told the 6cyl will last forever. how are the auto trannys in these things??
