I want to make sure that they don't get away before I get the chance to take them far enough away from home. That way they won't be able to find there way back.

Keep it simple!

Steve, the one you posted was pictured in Fourwheeler magazine a while back, I remember it.

That's nice, too.I was thinking to get project pick-up and build a flat-bed,but then there comes the local laws that says that truck bed has to be at least 6' 2" long. And I wont be able to bolt tool box on the bed,if I don't want get trouble (=big taxes). It said on the law book that pick-up truck is for hauling stuff,so it needs also sides,so real-flat bed is out of question.

Welcome to wonderland of Finnish laws.Damn!

I'm too lazy to stick shift, that's why I prefer autotranny.

What about all the newer double cab (crew cab) compact trucks? They are no where near 6' 2" long.

I may be obtaining a K20 for a daily driver and putting a flatbed on it. The only thing I'd worry about is the dog falling off. haha. My father owns one of the nicest truck equipment manufacturing businesses in this area. He does a lot of custom work as well as stock items. All for trucks one ton and up, like flat beds, crane bodies, toolboxes, line bodies, service trucks, ect. What I'm saying is I have the tools and the basic ideas at my disposal to make something lightweight, nice, and very functional. I like the one Scoobydan is using as a model, just not much bed space for using it as a truck. I'll probably end up doing a flat bed to the end of the spring hangars with underbody toolboxes in front of the rear tires that are about 14" high for my tools. Then a on top of bed box going all the way across, about 18" Front to back, about 24" tall, and all the way across from side to side. 12 Ga steel so I can still park 4 wheelers on top of it if I want. Top and side access. Possibly more toolboxes built into the floor and extending about 8" up for more storage. Frame built of crossmembers and long sills. Damn steve, you plant an idea and now I'm thinking hard...just how the heck is the dog gonna load up???

And because of that, those are not imported.Stupid law refers those as a passenger cars->high taxes.Which is totally insane,IMHO if it has a bed,its not a car,its a truck. But no,lawmakers think that just as a big, open trunk.Same goes with toolbox,I can't bolt it to bed, because they refer it as a seat!!

But I have a sollution;I'll make removable bed sides, and toolbox stays in place with couple of ratchet straps.Simple.

laketex,you're right,our laws suck,and big time!
