Doug Thorley headers is looking for a 73-91 Blazer with a LS motor to be a "test bed" for developing a set of headers. I wish I lived closer :-)

If you call, ask for Nick.

Admins: Feel free to delete this thread. I'm not sure if I'm breaking any rules with this post as I don't think they're a paying retailer on this site?

Apparently the Thorley crew does not work on Fridays. So I e-mailed them just now. Wait and see:whistle: They are less than 40 miles away from me.
I know the right side will be tough to design.

You probably already know this, but their is two Thorley headers. One is owned by the ex-wife. The one I talked to is 1-800-347-8664. I just called them and the guy you want to talk to (Nick) is out until Monday. Probably best to try a call back then.

I REALLY hope this works out... for you, and us :-) I have a set of his headers on my current Gen I SBC and they fit awesome!

Yep, that's the one I e-mailed. That would be nice to have a set of headers for it. I told them they could have it as long as they needed it.
May I ask how did you find this information?

I called them last week to ask if they're planning on making a set for my combination, and Nick mentioned that they would love to make a set, but have been unable to get a vehicle in the shop that they could use as a test-bed. I asked if he would care if I posted something on CK5, and he was all for it.

Just got off the phone with the Doug Thorley people and they sounded intrested in useing my Blazer for a header mock-up.
So we'll see what becomes of that.

Did they leave it as "don't call us, we'll call you? :-)

I hope Thorley stays on top of this! I love his headers that I have on my current motor.

Perhaps if Thorley were to get more requests for said header application, this would speed things along:whistle:

What email did you use to communicate. I'll send him one tonight.

Anyone else that's planning on doing or has done a LS swap, lets send a few email to let him know theirs interest out there :-)

Just talked to Nick. Hes gna call me back and let me know. Even if he doesnt use my truck in deffinatly gna be buy a set as soon as thier on the market.:D

It'd be cool if they let you in on some of the process. I'd like to see how they go from a set of one-off headers to something they can reproduce exactly time and time again. I can see Jigs for the flanges on both ends but everything in-between would be cool to see.

seen it done on tv before.

hand build a set and then use a ploting probe unit on flexy arm to mark points in space in 3d on cad programs then reproduce a set on a mandrel tube bender and test fit and tweek if need be then thats basicly it.

vary cool tho.
