Probably haven't seen plastic hoods to date because to be thin enough to save weight, they would curl or droop, kind of remold to the engine.:haha:
I'm just guessing. Might be a fire hazard problem, as in liability ins.

hmmm...yea...what would happen on a really hot day or even a really cold day? would they melt(hot) or crack easily(cold) i wonder how much weight they could support(snow atop)

And what would these things do at freeway speeds???Might consider a balsawood frame covered with saran wrap. And I think they should eat the cost of the mold if you can get 10 people together...Do you know aproximately what the difference in weight would be between a fiberglass hood and the plastic one Jaun???

Where did that come from?

I agree, I'd like to see some highway testing, how much they'd weigh, how resistant to heat and cold they'd be.

So does anyone sell a fiberglass fender?
I have seen a few prerunner styles. I found a place a few months back that made 3 different hoods and about 5 different fenders for our trucks. I will see if it is in my favs when I get home tonight.

most glass is prerunner style for our rigs.
autofab.com
perrysfabnfiber.com
glassworksunlimited.com (they make a sweet update kit)
off-roadfiberglass.com (my favorite)

I found some for my '76, that are straight bolt in look just like factory. I bought them used so I don't know where they are from, or if they are still made. I will take a really close look next time I'm at the shop and see if there is some sort of company ID on them.
