Just snapped some pictures of the numbers on my block. I looked up the number on the back and it looks like it’s an 86 block. Can anyone confirm? And what about the casting on the side?. I couldn’t find an id number anywhere.

Is there anything on the flat area behind the water pump on the passenger side. Below the head.
Nope, I didn’t take a picture but I cleaned it off it’s just a flat blank spot.

someone has motor mount brace rod plates . . . dont toss them out some guys want them . then the rods go to the bell housing cover and help support it all for hd applications

and anymore unless your doing #'s matching i dont care at all if its correct to the vehicle . but cid to what its sold as yes i care . saw a guy years ago buy a car with a LT1 350 engine from a early 70's car . run the block #'s and was a 267 out of a late 70's early 80's emissions g-body car pile of crap motor . so use the block casting info you posted pics of to help id the FAMILY size and run it or build it . and from the mid to late 80's area range and stock its 170-190 hp range i bet .

If the pad under the RH cylinder head is blank it may have been decked in the past..or maybe it was a replacement short block that never had the original code or partial VIN stamped on it...usually those had a "CE" code though ,to ID it as a "complete engine"..

Is there anything weird about the Canada casting? That kind of surprised me.
