Anyone know of a vendor that builds custom guage holders?

I can't post in the vendor section, so thought I would ask here.
I know Kert from DIY4X sells a complete dash (cutting of old dash is involved), but I'm looking for just the area where the guages, headlight switches, radio, HVAC controls are, etc.

What I need is a "flat" panel that takes up that space to mount my Dakota Digital Dash. The stock plastic bezel is shaped like a \____/ and my guage cluster is wider than the "flat" portion. Basically I'm looking for a flat piece that would take up the whole space, with fillers to cover the gaps.

Anyone know of anything?

I know ion does some sort of dash stuff. Can't remember exactly what it is. look through the vendor section for threads started by him

ION and classicdash have parted ways. The company did away with the CK5 discount as well. He said it was a pain for them

They still make dashes though. Just a bit more pricy than before.

Pretty cool if I was going with individual gauges, but I need a completely flat piece that would go from edge to edge. Those are still 3 panels with the sides angled.

Thanks for trying though.

now THAT"S redneck^^^:eek1:

I would get a stock instrument panel & bezel from a scrap yard and fit the gauges to it...

not mine, but something like this

I will have some very good news for you all then. Since the weeks of me parting ways with the company, they have called me with a very very nice pay increase and nicer insurance for myself and my daughter at no cost to me. So needless to say, they got their sales manager back and yes I still have the ability to do a CK5 discount.

The problem is it, still won't work as its not wide enough in the middle. I'm ALMOST positive 73-87 is the same physical shape. The breaks in years are for slightly different configurations (such as wiper in dash or stalk).
This kinda confirms that:

In all honesty have you read up on the dakota kits? One light burns out, you have to replace the 600 dollar unit.

One light burns out on the autometer kit, you call me and I'll send you another light out.

I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I have one of their first gen units with zero issues to date.
I could throw this one away and buy all new guages for speed, tach, oil pressure, water temp, voltage, fuel, trans gear, and trans temp, then find a way to get indicators for blinkers (original wiring is gone for factory dash). I figure though, that I'd be up to quite a chunk of change by then as well.

What the going rate for a large speedo (with trip) and large tach unit with smaller voltage, oil pressure, water temp, fuel guage, trans temp guages? Is there a guage for automatic trans gear indicator?

Plus I like to be different. Money isn't the issue, it's finding somebody willing to build it....

Can you separate the electronics from the aluminum panel, and build another panel with the right profile?

So sell the damn thing and buy a whole setup from JJ with bezel, gauges, and wiring harness.

Done

Try the local race car guys. Prob a local guy or chassi shop that does sheet metal interiors and the like that can hook ya up with a flatter panel and cut the gauge package in for you. Leave it shiny or paint it. Although I'm kinda digging the wood grain look :pimp:

Another option may be talk to the ricer/stereo guys. They might do ya something in glass. Or maybe even a good interior shop? Just got to see who local does good work.

You can either have someone on here fab you a new cluster housing which should be the easiest way or you could build the dash out and vinyl wrap it.
Building the cluster may end up with a flat top on it between the top of the dash and the bezel unless they can account for that when they build it.
