anyone know Subarus?

My girlfriend has a 1992 Legacy Wagon AWD. Needs the rack and pinion boots replaced and the right side inner axle seal at the diff.
Havent had much of a chance to check it out yet, but the shop wants to charge $500 to do it. I still need to pick up a manual for it, but just wondering if anyone has done anything like this before.

Any help would be appreciated as always! Thanks guys!

i worked for subaru for 1 1/2 yrs ur going to have to pull the tie rod ends off the knuckle and then off the rack arm then just pull on the rubber boot and it should just move easily but be carefull member there is a tiny hard plastic line that runs between the 2 boots that allows air flow between the 2 boots so the boots dont crumple when turned.
