Have an '88 TBI 350 and was wondering what the stock compression was . I read everything from sub 8.0 - 9.25. Doing a swap to a carb for a low and slow 4x4 boat launching rig off of the beach and trying to find a cam to work with the stock compression to build some cylinder pressure for some "tractor like torque". Anyone have a factual number?

thanks!

I was trying to find out the very same information. I once saw an episode of Engine Masters that showed swapping to Vortec heads raised the compression to a little over 10:1 but can't find it now. I'm thinking I have a good Q-jet to throw on there (yes I like'em) and I'll be set. Good luck with your build.
