I use the cheapest new radial car tires I can find when I have a tire go bad on my 20' car hauler because they sun rot and blow before the tread wears out, the tire tech always thinks Im nuts and wants me to buy a "trailer tire". If I was hauling often I would go with a radial 6 ply. Radials run cooler.
Well between the trailer and all my quads (5 in all) the last thing I want to do is toatal everything cause I used the wrong tire. I agree they dry rot long before they wear out, the tires I have right now one started to seperate and one has a bubble on the sidewall. Just curious if there is a structurial difference, I have a buddy who says run a radial tire and I think I should stick with a trailer tire.
No, I didnt know Monaco made one?? What are they called? Mine is a Tahoe. My mom and dad have a Mckenzie travel trailer that is made by Monaco, very nice rig. Ny Tahoe has everything I need but wish I had a fueling station, I dont think it was available in 2000. Still for the price I am very happy with it.
If I am correct most "trailer" ties have a higher weight capacity than a standard car radial. I used to work at a tire store and we put regular radials on trailers all the time, but we usually used LT tires instead of P tires. I know that you don't want to mix the trailer tires and the regular radials, but if you go one way or the other and don't exceed the capacity of the tires I think you will be alright. I think.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
