I have looked all over the internet and I have herd that they have just stoped making them. And smitty bilt only makes a few a year. But I'm restoring my 88 k5 and I absolutely love that truck. And the series more than any other. But I am leaving for my infantry training this summer and I would like to have this project finished before I leave. But can anyone send me a link on where to find just a roll bar (just the hoop) for the rear passEngers. It does not need to fit under the hard top. But it has to b able to fold down. So please leave a link or if u know sOmeone who can build one please let me know. Thank you.

Roll bar and fold down are 2 things that don't really go together. I don't think there's a way to make it collapsable and still be strong enough to be considered a real roll bar.

Also, if you're just wanting the single hoop that some K5's had mounted in the rear behind the back seat, that's a factory part and will only be available used (unless you have a shop fab one).

x2 on the folding being a bad bed fellow for a roll bar. never heard of such a thing, probably for a reason. it shouldnt be too hard to make one that fits under the hard top, get yourself a tubing bender if you dont have one, and ask around what size tube youd need, OD, wall thickness, type of metal, etc, etc, and bend your own bar. youd have to ask someone more knowledgeable than me (not hard to find) about how best to mount the darned thing though.

You could make a roll bar fold down and still strong. Its just going to cost some serious coin. and its going to take up ALOT of room when folded down.

Factory rear roll bar, fits under the cap.

x's 3 a fold down roll bar does not seem strong, it would fail under a roll; although it gives me an idea. You could use (4) leaf spring type poly bushings & make it removable with 4 bolts.

thank you all for the comments, but still let me know if you find or hear anything.

my only problem is that i sort of have a plan on how much im going to spend on what portions, so i cant really spend an arm and a leg becasue the extra cash i have im using to get a place so that me and my girlfriend can move in togather and start a family before i leave.

in a nutshell yes. for now it is better than what i have , nothing.
we have no set plans other than using kerts flanges . also we are thinking a frame attachment using body bushings or something under the cage points.

My fiance is a mechanical engineer and my welder buddy ( i have no skills)
has built 3 or 4 NHRA certified
nhra cages .m sure we wil figure something out.

I have a stock Blazer/jimmy rollbar, I'm probably not going to use, as I'm going to go full exo. Problem is I'm here, your...there.

I want a rollbar too, I cant even find a factory one local. I wouldn't mind a custom setup like linked here, but I dont want the bar up front driver area/dash. I want it to be just in the rear area so when I remove the top my kids will have some protection. I wish someone made one that was like both the factory rear and front bar with horizontal bars joining them together at the top...that make any sense?

I plan to make my own. right now I have nothing. I keep the hard top on.
I have a tube bender, notcher, welder, etc... I need to get a 1 3/4" die , I have a 1 1/2" die I have been using for bumper tubes but I need bigger tubes for my roll cage.
I think I am going to have to do it in phases. Cover the rear passengers first, then add more as the budget allows. I am still sketching & researching designs.

Post up in the Garage to see if there is anyone making a cross country trip any time soon. We need to make this work for you.
The Roll bar is just taking up space, and in fantastic condition.

You mind posting a pic so we can see the bar. I want to see if it looks like the one I have.
