Anyone know why ???

They are not DOT approved and I believe they can leak air and loosen up with abuse also. If you want a DOT approved beadlock get a set of HMMV rims. I believe they are the only street legal beadlocks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

It is illegal to modify wheels...hence beadlocks are not legal. So if you change the backspacing of the HMMV wheels...they are just as illegal as beadlocks.

If you run cleanass beads and a quality center, they can't tell. They still say DOT approved on the ring

USA6x6.com is making street legal DOT approved civilian beadlocks. If for whatever reason I ditch my Hummers, That's what I'm going to get. Save some weight, and keep the farqin thing legal. Just one less thing to worry about.

Now if only Daniel @ USA6x6 made an ALUMINUM civilian beadlock... IT would be expensive, but it would be the ultimate. Hell, I have a CNC mill, why dont I just make em?

Theres a county sheriff in the same 4wheel club as me. He runs beadlocks on his rig and drives it in town quite often so I dont think its enforced a whole lot.

I'm sure if he was pulled over for beadlocks his 'brother' would let him go, no questions asked. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Your probably right. Jim... the sheriff, pulled me over once to ask me for a website address. Kinda scared me for a few minutes. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

[/ QUOTE ]I am not even recentering my HMMWV wheels. I have dually hubs though.

USA 6x6 will be selling 15", 16", 16.5", and 17" Civilian DOT approved beadlock wheels. They will be around $180-200. Just make sure they are packaged correctly, fore I have heard bad things about their packaging problems.

If I had money, I'd get the 15" and keep my boggers. But it just doesn't seem very cost effecient, because I want to get 42's anyway plus I don't need special backspacing.

i wouldnt worry about the legal thing too much.... Its one of those blue law things, i doubt you will ever get pulled over for your wheels. And if you get popped for speeding or something i doubt they will say a damn thing about your rims. dont sweat it. They should outlaw those damn wheels that keep spinning when you stop before anything. Its more dangerous to run those on a rig cuz somone will want to Carjack you for em.

Wow, quite a good thread. All becouse I like the look of ...
