The threads at the throttle body are metric and require a way to retain the plastic sealing washer. The female threads are also metric, plus it has to be machined just right so the o-ring on the fuel line will seal. So no off the shelf parts will work, for what you're getting and the time they have invested it's a pretty decent deal. Beats the crap out of taking a bath in fuel everytime you want to check fuel pressure. Heck the money you save in not dumping fuel on the ground will help pay for the fitting.
 
You could cut the fuel line and use some compression fittings on either end with a fitting in the middle that has 1/8" NPT for the gauge. This just leaves more connections for a possible leak.
