anyone make there own tube bumpers?

I was thinking on making a new front tube bumper out of 8.5" wide tube I found today.use the torch and cut into the tube,slide a piece of "C" channel into the C shape cut on the tubethen weld it.do the other side,and presto! a nice tube bumper,stick it out a little bit and weld a 1.5" thick plate to the "C" rails extended from the frame ( which are bolted with 3 bolts to each side of the frame)for my winch plate.
whatcha all think? lets see picks of your front bumpers.

since that picture I added a warn XD9000i winch (which I received for free!) since the top of the bumper is steel dimond plate its kinda thin,so I had to brace the crap out of it.I used the winch to roll my truck backwards sice I was out of gas,and I ran the cable carefully under the truck and to a power pole so I could move it out of the way for me to glass the floors of my frinds rust bucket toyota.since It was a dead pull,I think I twecked the bumper alittle bit,and I dont wanna be stuck somwhere and have the winch rip off the bumper /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gifso I have plans on the new one,then I'd have to find a new clevis point.I might give away the current bumper though.
