Anyone recognize this center console?

Found it in a '89 k5 at the junkyard. at first I thought it was a home made job.
But after a little closer inspection, me thinks not. However it could be a one-off made by an upholstery shop or something?
It's got a fairly complex hinging mechanism and a plastic tray in the storage area though, so that kinda tells me a more "mass produced" item.
What do you think?

It appears to look like middle seating on industrial equipment too.

My first thought was a "buddy seat" from 67-72 GMs, but I don't know that they ever had an actual console type box built into them?
