Anyone replace their inner lower door panel?

I am replacing my inner lower door panel on my first gen K5. I am removing the old rusted out portion and will be welding in the replacement panel. The panel comes up to where the plastic door panel ends so the welding will covered for the most part. I plan on plug welding the sheet metal since I have a flanging tool.

Anyone do this before and what are the foreseen problems, if any?

I am taking photos as I go so I can post a running post.

Update with pics

I cut out the rusted bottom areas and am going to replace the entire inner bottom panel. The weld area will be right at bottom of the interior door panel.

I am going to use my flanging tool to flange the replacement panel and then plug weld it in.
