I have a 90 k5 with rust in the roof. mostly where the fiberglass rear roof meets up.. i had a guy tell me that he would replace the rusted sheetmetal and that would be cheaper that replacing the roof itself (i have a rust free replacment).. after pulling the headliner i now realize it will need the whole roof replaced and im sick about it.. lol

I bet there's more nasty rust you don't even know about. You sure the vehicle is a good truck to invest in a roof rather than just cut it off for a full convertible?

oh no.. the truck is virtually rust free except the roof. the undercarriage is probably as clean as my 04 silverado hd. pics to follow:

i agree but, just cant see doing that to the truck.. it really is otherwise rust free (florida truck). id like to keep it close to original as possible. im having a hard time finding someone i trust to do the roof. like i said earlier, i have a replacement from another forum member out west that is rust free.

It's not that hard if you have a body shop or a body professional.

There are plenty of people out there capable of doing this no problem.
One thing I would do is where you have the cut at the bedside have a square tube or something close to the shape and sleeve on the inside so you're overlapping not just butt welding
