I have 15"X10" bead locked rims and I want to run 44"X18.5" boggers.

Is anyone running this set up?

I don't trailer my K5 to the trails so I'm a little concerned.

Any thoughts, experience, and/or opinions?

People run 19.5" Boggers on H1's which are 8.75" wide so 10" wide is easily do-able. Just need to adjust the air to reduce the crown if the tread so they wear evenly.

You should be fine, I had 38.5x15s and 39.5x16s on 8" wide wheels. Since you trailer it, you won't need to worry about wear as much. The narrower the wheel, the less you'll have to fight the bead to seat them, and less chance you'll pop the bead off in the first place.

This is all assuming you aren't running beadlocks, though. As long as the tires are in good shape, they should be fine on those wheels

Edit: I should probably learn to read, all that blabbing about debeading the tire was superfluous.

There should be no issues. Both myself and a friend have ran 15.5" wide tires on 8" rims for years. He used to drive his rig to the trails up to 300 miles away, and while I don't know exactly how many miles he put on the 42" TSL's it had to be at least 5-6,000 miles on pavement going up to 65 mph. That is a lot of miles for tires you would probably be lucky to get 15k miles out of. He never had any tire issues and or unusual wear.

The taller the tire the less issue you have with narrower rims. It's kinda' like a K5 having rear driveshaft angle issues with a 6" lift because the shaft it short, but a longbed truck has no issues because the shaft is a lot longer and therefore less angle in the joints. On a 26" tall car tire you can't get away with having the rims almost half the width of the tires, but on a 44" tall tire it is not an issue.

Thanks for the info. Interco and other vendors were all claiming that you would need at least a 12" wide rim to run the 18.5" wide tires. That just didn't seem quite right to me considering the amount of rubber vs. rim. I love my trailready beadlocks and didn't want to replace them in order to run a wider tire.

Thanks for the info. I got a lot of misinformation from several vendors including Interco on running at least a 12" wide rim for the 18.5" wide tires. Yeah I don't get very many miles out of them due to the fact I drive my rig to the trails. I don't really like the fact of owning a trailer queen but the cost of rubber has me constantly considering it.

The tire manufacturers always recommend goofy wide wheels.

Oh well then I've got nothing. I'd bet the sidewall will act stiffer if it's more vertical, so tires being sucked in by narrow wheels will flex a little better with s sacrifice in payload capacity. Just a theory.

I run 44" boggers on 15x10 steel wheels in my 76 k5 with 6 inch or so lift ...no problems and I have a buddy runs the same set up on his Toyota with beadlocks and he loves them. Before that I ran 37" swampers on a 7 " rim that was more scary
