I know its on here somewhere, I just pulled one out at work. 02 c1500, Lifter collapsed, cust said put a new motor in it. I want to run it in my up and coming truggy project.(80 Blazer chasis). Anyone have a link to this being done, Or any insight. I've been google "n" for an hour or so but found no real help. The motor has 102,000 but runs great, just needs some lifters. seems like a saaaweeet power plant for a truggy Thanks

I put a 1999 5.3/4L60E with zero miles in my 87 K5 five years ago. It was alot of work but it has been running great ever since. 285 hp, 15 mpg city, 20 highway. I chopped the top so it makes a great economical and fast daily driver/beach buggy.

You will need the computer, new fuel pump, new speed sensor, etc. I live in CA so I had to put all of the smog stuff on like evap cannister, etc.

I think the swap will take 6 months and cost $2000 dollars in additional parts.

I think you can use the same painless harness for the ls1 swaps they are a standalone engine harness that has outputs for your gauges and just plug the ecu in it is really easy. and the harness is like 500$ but well worthit for plug and play and I belie it works on the ls1, 5.3, and 6.0

Only one person has run a 5.3 in a blaze??? Well thanks for the info Guys. painless kit for $600 and ecm for $300 OUCH!!!

i gots one in mine. the motor swap is the easy part...i decided to be a smartass and swap in a 4l80e also. thats where all my headaches came from.
Those motors take NOTHING to run. Theres 4 grounds off the pcm that need to be hooked up, 2 constant 12v sources and 1 key on source for the pcm. There are also an assortment of pink wires that need to be hooked up to key on powers, and a few ground wires for the sensors. hook that crap up, take VATS off the pcm, and it will run.

truck manifolds fit pretty well in these trucks too. there is a little massaging on the passengers side that needs to be done, other than that, they fit fine. Get some ls1 motor mount adaptors and the motor will drop right in place. those can be had for 40$ or so shipped on ebay and whatnot.

If you have any more questions, PM me or IM me on aim: whatsstuckk5. i prefer aim, but PM on here will work too.

So redneckdude and Larry, Was the swap worth it?? Does it just flat HAUL ASS?? Bad ass off road?? Cause I am stoked to do this swap. Any pics?? I am starting to truggy out an 1980 blazer and think it would the baddest thing out here.
