I am thinking about narrowing the front of my California K5. The sheet metal is getting DESTROYED. That being said, I am going to continue to drive it on the street. Is, or has anyone else done this? Does it throw gravel at the windshield? Complaints, concerns? Please let me know.

I used to run a truck that was narrowed front and rear on the street. Never had any problems with it throwing rocks at the windshield. Street legality will depend on state, probably mostly due to tire coverage. Had no problems here other than getting lots of funny looks.

you'd be put in county lock up here in Joysey and the rig impounded...

Meh, I'm in Nebraska, I can pretty much do whatever I want.

I never get rocks or crap thrown at the windshield or anything. And im basically the same setup. 12.5in of tire sticks out on both sides.

Bump. Not much feedback, and I still want to do this.

^This if you are worried about it. Kind of like those removable Jeep fender flares. Just cut it wide at the front and narrow to almost nothing at the back.

I say do it. I know I eventually will. The law here reads that the tire must be covered by 60% or so but I have a few friends that have tires outside of the truck body itself and no problems, which is saying something for nazifornia lol.

Its mostly about mudflaps, as long as you're not flinging rocks at others then you're fine. You wont have any rocks hitting your windshield unless you go hauling ass in reverse.

I have 3/4 of my tires hanging out. The only issue is water spray with the top off from the back tires. Gets me in the back of the neck and on the radio. Only really happens at about 10mph.
I drive in the rain with no doors. Barely get wet.
Do it.

I had an s10 with full width axles under it. I had about 25% of the tire covered and had zero issues with the law. Only issue was the amount of spray I got everywhere.

You'll love it, do it now!

Edit:ignore the thumbs down

I ran mine way more than I thought I would. Only problems I have had have been with the back tires throwing rocks up. Front has never been a problem

I can honestly say, I never thought about that:doah:

My daily driver for nearly the last 18 years has had tires sticking out. Rain x works wonders. Doesn't last really long but reapplication every 45 days or so and keeps the side windows clean
