I want to get duratracs for my company truck. Notice most of the trucks around here that see any kind of off-highway use, like oilfield and farm stuff, are running duratracs.
I have had both, had Durtracs on my Cummins and was pretty disappointed with the snow and ice performance. I was also very surprised at how quick they wore out 35,000 and they are done .
The coopers we run on all our trucks at the mine and are pretty damn awesome. We also run them on all the pickups here at the railroad and seem to be pretty awesome .
I just put a set on my commuter 6.5 94 blazer so I can't really say how they wear just yet
I have run both on my company trucks. The Duratracs are not as good on heavy vehicles and they don't hold up to dirt roads real well for extended mileage. The original ones were great but goodyear changed the tread compound cuz the yuppies said they road to rough on their jeeps and after that they went to crap for commercial use. The coopers are pretty durable and have deep tread but after they get wore down about half way they get pretty blocky and not very good in the snow. I have some of the new bfg at2s on a dually and they seem pretty good except for mud. I ran a set of the older ones on an all wheel drive grand Cherokee for 70,000 miles once. I also run the Hercules Terra Trac D/T on a few f150s and it has tread depth of a mud tire and somewhat aggressive tread and more siping than the cooper. Plus it's still cut and chip resistant. Don't know about mileage yet as mine are still pretty low mileage. If you wan't cooper I have the st pro on my super duty and love them. They are a full on mud terrain.
I run the st maxx on my suburban in a 35". I can say compared to my bfg at ko they track and steer better on gravel. No mud or snow experience yet...I only have a couple hundred miles on them, about 60 miles of gravelly forest roads and mild spur roads. Quiet on the highway.
Ran the Duratracs on my last two Burbs in 35 and 33 inch, they wore very well and road great, excellent in water and the snow and ice we get around here.
I'm running the K02s on my LandCruiser in a 33" size (285/75-16).... not a K5 but probably not far off in weight:
They look bitchin' and ride amazingly well for being a Load Range E tire.... pretty damn quiet too! I was expecting a lot of tire howl because of the aggressive tire pattern but they are just about as quiet as the OEM Michelin "street tires" that were on this truck for the last 15 years.
25k on a set of 265/75/16-10 plys on my 99-K2500, they performed very well for me in all conditions from dry paved roads to muddy two tracks to sand. I would say mileage is a bit disappointing though.
