I have another tire thread going, but wanted more eyes... I like these tires, but the specs make them seem super wide compared to other 37's which are generally 12.5, plus the section width spec is actually 14.5 on the Toyo. Are they really that crazy wide seeming?

I can't say much about how those tires work but I hate them simply because every poser with a shiny new lifted mall cruiser seems to have those tires at least thats how it is around here. Im just tired of seeing them.

My duramax had a worn set of 35" toyo's when I bought it. Even then they rode good and didn't howl at all. As for your original question though the 12.5 width looked much wider than that. I bought the AT open country to replace them and at a factory 12.5 wide measurement on a 18x10 rim they measure nearly 14. They seem to all run wide. I will say their height measurements are more off than any other manufacturer though. Usually 35's seem to come out to about 34-34.5 but mine measure to 33 1/4. Hope all this helps.

I've looked into these as well. It's true, every poser mall crawler runs them. Though, I think for good reason. Every toyo mt I've looked at has a very good wear pattern. Most the edges are not rounded out and have lasted many miles for a mt that sees lots of road miles. There weight rating must be high too because all those mall crawler fords tow campers. Just my .2

I plan on running some when time to buy for my 01 sas but it will get used to wheel.

I've never noticed Toyos on poser Super Duty's and stuff around here. Oh well, I still like them I think. My only concern is whether they are too wide, in terms of amount of lift and/or trim required to fit them.

Im not saying at all that they are bad tires. They seem to last, wear good, and drive straight. Yes they do have high weight rating. I think the common sizes are "E" rated. Excellent tires for an aggressive look on an HD truck.

With all that said I still don't like them just for the fact that Im tired of seeing little blonde girls in their boyfriends lifted superduty and accessorized pretty boys driving around thinking they're badass in their "4x4" that has never and will never even see a gravel road.

End Rant lol

Take a look at all those trucks on 22" and 24" rims and 37" tires. 9 times out of 10 they are toyo mt. Just saying...

If your looking for a good street tire by all means.

To get back to your question, yes they seem wider. you have to know by now seeing your post count that every truck is different with the amont of trimming you want to do . If you don't want t to interfere with stuff run 33's. If you wheel it go 37s and trim to fit.

Fair enough. If the trimming is a ton more with Toyo's though, I may go with something else. Still haven't seen a pic on a K5...

I have a set of 265s on my suburban, that sees about as rough of stuff as you can do on 265s (dragging diffs and fuel tank skid plate all the way).
They are by far the best off road traction tire that I have had, and amazing in deep snow. On snowy roads though they are the WORST tire I have ever had. They dont last nearly as long as everybody claims, well maybe if you run them till they are completely gone, but I am betting by the time they are half tread they will be worthless traction wise.

Here's a pic I found randomly on-line. Looks like probably 15" wheels though. I think it looks good, though it would clearly not flex without hitting the sheet metal.

You will get one soon. I just got some 33.5" MTs mounted on the rims. In a very short period of time i will stuff my 8-lug axles under the truck, and put the tires on. Pics will ensue. i did take a mock-up pic of the tire & rim resting against the existing tire & rim...i must say i am glad i painted the rims with black satin. can't wait to get on the trail again.

I've got 35x13.50x15 toyo's on my 79 long bed if your interested in seeing pics of it. I've barely gotten into the fenders and have trimmed just a tiny bit. I'm waiting on a deal for some 37-38s so I can really cut the fenders.

Post 'em up!

Fresh rubber

Ok. I finally got the axles under the truck and running. The tires are thin; after getting some stock rims at the price i wanted i went about getting the tires. Toyo and other manufacturers don't make a 35" tire for 16' x 6.5" rims. Due to time constraints and and my refusal to spend another (at least) $500 for wider rims, i pulled the trigger and got 33.5" Toyo MTs. So here is your pic, if you want better/different angles, i can produce them for you.

My father's truck runs Toyo 35x12.5x18. They look narrower than his old Nitto 35s and ProComp 35s. All mounted on the same rims. All three look wider than my Trxus m/t spare 37x12.5x17 tire.

Now, my 38x15.5x18 Toyos mounted on 11" wide rims look WIDE! lol

I'm thinking of running the 37x14.5x15 on mine to replace my worn out baja claws. Just wondering how they were if you had gotten them.
