Anyone us Dupli-Color's Paint shop system yet?

the only benefit of lacquer is that a monkey can apply it..

They sprayed a bronco on the Trucks tv show with that system. Kevin Tetz is one of the hosts from the show and he knows his stuff when it comes to painting. He has his own automotive paint web forum that you might want to check out. Here is his web site: www.paintucation.com .

laquer paint is easy to apply and buffs to a high gloss. Its isn't as durable as a modern base/clear, it can be wiped off with many different solvents .

lacquer just plain sucks...

Too many people have been brainwashed hearing, "oh, it's got 14 coats of handrubbed lacquer" bs over the years...

better gloss, etc, results can be had with better products... Not to mention they don't fade in 6 months...... while under a car cover! :haha:

Lacquer has also jumped tremendously in price over the last decade or so, as it becomes a rarity...

Pros: cheapish, easy to apply and repair, no catalyst and associated health risks.

Cons: cheap- you get what you pay for, not very durable-scratches and fades easily, don't even try to spray anything good ovr the top of it as it will lift and wrinkle.

Bottom line is if you want to make something one color for little money and don't care how long it lasts this is your stuff. If you want to do it once and have it last more than six months then go ahead and step up to at least a catalyzed acrylic enamal or better yet a urathane product.

primer is still dirt cheap....

I have a bud who I restore Olds's for, who insists on lacquer... Last gallon of red I bought for him was nearly $200... :eek1: :doah: :haha: But no catalyst, so ya save there...
