I'm digging into my 700r4 again and was wondering if anyone has used the ATSG manual. Does it have diagrams of check ball locations, etc? Maybe a 700r4Dummies section?

It doesn't have a 700r4 for dummies but it is a very worthwhile piece to have if you are rebuilding a trans. Exploded diagrams is what I use them mostly for

there is like 3 700 manuals one for the early up to 86,a 87-1993,a update or in other words the changes done by the factory over the years.

they do show check ball locations.

good manuals

Thanks. I was looking at the 87-93 edition and the Update Handbooks on the ATSG site. I'm debating on those or a book by Cliff Ruggles which I can pick up quick at B&N.

Before I rebuilt my 700r4, I bought the ATSG book and a CD by Paul Zank. Both were very helpful and so far no problems with about 5000 miles on rebuild.

I also installed a shift kit.....along with the ATSG book and CD, they show check ball locations and which ones to move or remove.

Thanks wheels. I just got a Superior Shift Correction pack and a few other shift related parts to install and want to be ahead of the game. But waiting for shipping is starting to make me hyper:screwy: and I'm dying to get my beast back on the road. I'm headed to Barnes n Noble tomorrow to check on a book by Cliff Ruggles and HOPE it's not shrink wrapped so I can see if it contains info I want.
