I have the great fortune of having found a restorer who has basically adopted my 72 K5 as if it's his own. He has done an amazing job on everything mechanical, so now it's time to do the interior.

I am new at all this, so I figure others have already done this way better than I have. Thus, I signed up on this site (and paid) and am asking for help... even if someone just says, "Shut up, quit thinking, buy this package."

I *think* I want the rear seat to be a white bench seat. I also know I want a really loud stereo. Beyond that, I'm flexible and open to advice (or being told what's right by those smarter than I).

I expect my exterior to look like this: https://images.app.goo.gl/ZCycaXHCeLaXVrG87.

Also, if I can come up with a way to have a soft top without some ugly frame, I'm open to that.

Oh, final note, I put in an LS1 so this is not a purist restore. I'm very flexible.

Here's the parts list my guy gave me if this helps.

  • VISORS
  • KICK PANELS
  • CARPET KIT
  • FRONT SEATS
  • CENTER CONSOLE
  • DOOR PANELS
  • ARM RESTS
  • INTREIOR DOOR HANDLES
  • WINDOW CRANK HANDLES
  • SCUFF PLATES
  • SEAT BELTS
  • QUARTER PANEL COVERS
  • REAR SEAT
  • REAR SEAT BELTS

Hi and Welcome

after a couple more you should be able to post up some pictures of your gen 1, we are picture whores here. I don't have much info for ya. Do you have seats ?
I hear finding original seat frames is difficult. How about the seat brackets and hardware ?

Visit our https://ck5.com/forums/ck5/1969-1972-k5-blazer-truck-suburban.23/ and https://ck5.com/forums/ck5/interior-stock-custom.86/ You may want to put a wanted add in our parts classified. Some of the parts on your list are available after market new, and some aren't. Also look in our vendor section, for info on who has what and possible quality issues.

Any idea how I can determine what I'm going to be able to find new and what I'll have to find old (or have made myself)? I'm surprised no one sells a full K5 interior package.

No thats a new one for me. I may try them out when I get to my Chevelle

Velocity just finished up a 1st generation Blazer.....

There images should give some ideas

VELOCITY Restorations is about 15 miles from my house here in Pensacola, FL and they are amazing; even the shop is something to see much less the works of art that come out of there.
It would be worth the effort to see what they have to offer as far as interior parts and materials.
Judging by their builds I’m sure it won’t be cheap but it will be top shelf!

Once again, this place is AMAZING!!

Interesting you say that. I have called them several times, but they are really cagey about helping. They sell Bronco interior packages, and they say they will sell some for Blazers... but they won't help me yet.

Do you happen to know anyone there?

I wish that I did know someone there so very bad but sadly I do not - or at least not that I know of yet.
This place went from an old Mazda car dealership paint and body shop that was descent in size a few years ago to an ex industrial site way out in the north end of the county that is no doubt ten damn times the building space and who knows how much more property.

I guess business was/is that good - the new place looks like it should be on TV it’s so damn nice, and that’s just judging by the outside!

Anyone have any experience with https://class-tech-cars.com/

I like the idea of white with the orange highlander plaid.
What exactly are you looking for on that site? I only see two products for a 1st gen that they offer.

As for the interior I’d personally stay away from white seats (or anything) since it’s shows dirt so easily. When I do mine I’m going to go with something like a charcoal carpet and a slightly lighter shade of seat, although that may change when it actually happens.

Your choice in stereo selection will largely depend on the type of music you listen to. One system doesn’t fit all. At 73 I’m guessing you listen to either country or old school rock.

As mentioned earlier, do post pics. We don’t care what stage it’s in. We enjoy the build as much as the finished product. :waytogo:

I went with charcoal cloth in the middle so I don't burn my legs in the sun.

That looks awesome. My Blazer is about 40 minutes from me with my restore guy. It has some front and back seats in it, but their ugly. I like yours and the shape of yours. Do you have a recommended source for your:

Front seats
Center console
Rear seat
Steering wheel
Door panels

Seats and console look oem original, except upholstery. The column and wheel apperceive to be 80s vintage gm truck.
@CK5 will clarify

What's y'all's favorite place for OEM, OEM style, or at least ultra simple seats like that? All modern seats have so many curves and nooks and cranny's. Even if I don't use OEM-style, I'd like simple but that would fit.

Used, I am not aware of any remanufactured seats for 1st generation Blazer, there maybe door panels out there.

Correct, the seats and console are original but reupholstered. The column is stock but I do have a custom rebuilt original one without the shifter holes etc. as the shifter is on the floor. The sterring wheel is from an 80's Camaro, the plan is to replace with aftermarket original style wheel but 15".
