Just watched this weeks episode "two car garage crawler part V" , toward the end Ian says he is going to use a 205 in the Ibex project, he then goes on to say the "one downfall to the 205 is that it was never offered behind a turbo 400 transmission, you always have to get an adapter plate to connect the two of them together".

Am I missing something :dunno: because I'm pretty sure I've seen quite a few trucks that had a 205 behind a turbo 400 from the factory including the K30 parked in my driveway

i watched and caught that too!i have a guy with a 6.2 th400 and 205,in a duelly, all original thick its an 1987. makes you wonder! if all there saying is ok!!!

It does require an adapter, but so does every other 205

I noticed that too. I generally don't follow those shows, especially extreme4x4.

More like extreme budget jeep

I won't hate on the Powerblock since I'm a regular viewer/DVR'er. However, I think they've gone too 'hollywood'. All the episodes are product-driven and they've turned Courtney Hansen into something out of a Skynard concert.

I really miss the old days. Back when Stacey David was on Trucks. That guy just built trucks, played guitar, and talked to his dog. I can relate to that kinda show.

Despite the technical error, I was glad to see ORD get some airtime.

CheroKar was just trying to explain this episode to me.
I kept assuming he meant a doubler adapter, he kept telling me no, just a case.

I couldn't, for the life of me, understand what a 400/205 (no doubler),
would need a special adapter for.

Now, it makes sense. :haha:

Didn't they mentions something about an extra gear they put in the 205? I didn't see it but mr.clean said something about it

It was a poor choice of description about adding an ORD Magnum box to the 205.

I still watch the show on occasion for fun, but for actual tech you can't trust anything they say. I've seen them say so many wrong things I just watch sometimes to see what happens with the rigs. But I never actually trust the advice. I caught that error too this weekend, I was thinking, I guess the combo in my truck must be a custom one off. Also, at least this time he didn't say that the trans was junk because there was a nail in it, the 1st time they rebuilt a TH400 they said it was a junk core because of that. Every TH400 I have ever seen has a bent nail holding the shift rail in, from the factory. Also, I've seen them say stuff like, "having a higher compression ratio piston pulls in more air". Uh, no, it compresses it more.

Also, they seem so careless when they biuld everything. They are always in a hurry and leave stuff all nasty and paint over dirt and rust and when they rebuild that TH400 everything was filthy and they were just putting it back together. Any of that dirt gets in the valve body and hello problems. Then you see them drop carriers with ring gears on from 5 inches up, into the housing. Good way to ruin a bearing and/or chip a tooth on the ring/pinion. Careless.

It was a FORD 205 he used hence the never coming behind a TH400.........

I agree, that is most likely what he "meant", but, after showing the t case, then going on about the characteristics of 205's and so on he said exactly what I quoted in my post. Had he said that the only down fall was you couldn't get a driver side drop 205 behind a 400 with out an aftermarket adapter then I would agree :D

Heath.....totally agree :waytogo:

Think I caught an important detail....

I believe I heard him say it was a 205 out of a Ford for Driver side drop, for the front drive-shaft.
Didn't record it so I cant say for sure.

Yeah I think you guys are giving the show too much credit, regardless of what he may have meant, he was just plain wrong in what he said, as has happened on many occasions. Yes it was a drivers drop, but thats not what he said. It reminds me of the people trying to guess what the Florida voters were "trying to vote" several years back. Changing the votes to what they thought they tried to vote instead of what they actually voted.

With that said, I'll still watch it sometimes because its entertaining and they do build some neat stuff sometimes. And it's a lot better than a lot of the other shows where its basically a whole show of them advertising products and trying to act like its a show.
