Anyone who can help ?

I am leaving for college in a month and have put all my money into school for this year, so i though before i drive 16 hours to school i might want to get my truck checked out today. Its a 79 gmc seirra classic half ton. I found out that i need a over a thousand dollers of repairs on the linkage for the steering up front. I was wondering if anyone had any half ton stuff that was in nice shape that they wouldn't mind giving up. Just wlt me know, thanks guys.

I know that a lot of that is the hours of work but i though that if i got the parts myslef i could maybe have enought saved to get it replaced.

Linkage for the steering? Huh???

Is it 4WD, I presume? The linkage is the draglink and the tierod, and the ends. That's it ... not much to it.

You can get them at your local parts place, and then have it aligned, and be done with it.

The only specialty tool you'd need is the rod end separator aka tuning fork ... shouldn't cost ya but a couple hundrend bucks, tops.

AND you can double-check the tie rod and draglink ends yourself.

BTW, posting on CK5 about "professional" mechanics will invariably get you a "do it yourself" response

Somewhat of an idea i need is;

Front wheel bearings outer reg. inner reg. inner race
Outer tierods, left and right
Brake Pads
Lockouts --melted from broken wheele bearing
Brake lines extended front and rear
Braket to hold rear brake line
Wheel seals
Drag link ends PA and SA
Adjust sleeve

try nowparts seller on ebay for complet wheel bearing kit with seals for almost 1/2 of store prices. and front end linkage parts easy swap. then hoses under 20 each for new and just lower the line bracket on the frame or get 88-up ifs hoses like some do and tye off extra. little searching will find you some good used stuff and links to other new stuff cheep.
